I love waking up early but waking up at 4 am with only 4 hours of sleep is a challenge. I quickly gathered my belongings and side stepped my way out of my apartment without turning on any of the lights as they were simply too bright. After taking a quick power nap in my Uber, (I'm the worst passenger ever lol) I arrived at the airport with a 30 min window before the 6:20am flight to Houston was scheduled to depart. To my surprise the airport was PACKED. Clearly I was not prepared for this so I stuck it out and patiently waited in line. 20 minutes go by and there I am struggling to simultaneously buckle my belt and tie my shoes while moving towards the gate. I see a place to perform my morning prayers and bump into a person with the same intentions. We begin chatting it up and it turns out he is neighbors with one of my best friends. Small world. Anyways, we make the flight and I land in Houston. Every time I imagined Texas, it was always dry and hot but Houston was not like this. It rained more than frequently and is extremely humid, especially in the summer. I rendezvoused with my family and hung out with them the whole day. At night, we went to a halal burger place called Stanton's. I HIGHLY recommend this place. First off, the interior of the place is covered in neon signs with resembles an 80's cowboy diner. The nostalgia to childhood days was an automatic plus. The burger itself was juicy and dripping of grease with every bite. If you're feeling bold, try the Monster burger which contains 2 patties plus all of the toppings. I want to explore Houston next time to see the culture and food scene for its entirety. Until next time.
