How far are you willing to travel for a delicious meal you're craving?
10 min? 20 min? 1 hour max probably?
On Saturday, I dragged my roommates with me to come indulge themselves in some lobsters rolls 4 HOURS AWAY! We drove from Philadelphia to New London, CT to witness for ourselves that iconic place they call Scott's Lobster Dock.
3 take-aways from this trip:
1. Make sure you have money. Make you sure you have LOTS of money. Be expected to spend $20+ on the meal pictured below. The portion of the foods are a bit disappointing but honestly the experience of being in the middle of Connecticut makes up for it. I overheard a customer in front of me spending $85 on a meal for her and her husband. WOW.
2. Enjoy the lobster. I know this seems pretty straight forward, but it's easy to look at the negatives at this place. Why is it located in a remote area of town? Why are the prices so high? Let me tell you. The lobster is one of the best I have ever tasted in my lifetime. It tasted like the lobster was caught earlier that day based on how fresh it was, and not to mention it being covered in melted butter made it even better. This was the first time in a while where a meal took my breath away.
3. Breathe. Enjoy the fact where you are currently and take it all in. You're on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, in a foreign state, and with good company. I've been longing for this trip for years now and the sense of happiness that overcame me was overwhelming to know that I could finally cross this off my list. I loved every second of it and would drive 8 hours to do it again.
Go out and explore. The crazier the idea, the better the adventure.
